The Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Divine Richard Bosson, has described the Municipality as the best place where both local and foreign investors could take advantage of the prevailing business atmosphere to explore a number of opportunities.

Mr. Bosson said the Ho Municipality had many opportunities which the Assembly had decided to expose to the business community by organising the Ho Expo 2022, with the aim of attracting over 5,000 local and international business persons to the Volta Regional capital, Ho, to engage in business activities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Ho Expo 2022, which was themed: ‘Leveraging on Agri-Business to Promote Growth and Development,’ the MCE explained that it was the strong conviction of the Assembly that business persons would take advantage of the numerous opportunities in agri-business and tourism to improve on the standard of living of the people.

Mr. Bosson said that the Expo 2022 was just one of a number of activities planned for the Municipality aimed at stimulating the interest of the youth to embark on business activities that would go a long way to reduce poverty in the area, and to enable the people increase their incomes.

He, therefore, urged the youth to take advantage of the available opportunities, including the Ho 2022 Expo to exhibit their skills and attract businesses to invest in local products that could be showcased in the international as well as markets in the country.

The Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mrs. Selma Ashipala-Musayvi, who described the Ho Municipality as the cleanest city in West Africa, commended the Ho MCE and described him as a young and energetic leader, with a vision of turning the municipality into a vibrant business centre and should be supported to achieve success.

Mrs. Ashipala-Musayvi explained that the opening of Ho Expo 2022 was her second time in the municipality, which was very neat and remained the same as she saw it on her first visit, with the environment well protected, which was good for tourism and serene for general business activities.

She commended the Municipal Assembly for the effort made in organising the Expo 2022, which was significant in the promotion of inter trade activities between Africa nations.

The Namibian High Commissioner announced that the she had grear interest in the Municipality and proposed that the Municipal Assembly should consider, as a matter of interest, establishing intercity relations with one of the cities of her country to enable the youth of both countries to learn culture, agri-business and tourism practices, as well as other areas of interest.

The Volta and Eastern Region Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mr. Dela Gadzanku, hoped the Ho Expo 2022 would help transform business activities in the Municipality, and the Volta Region in general, saying medium and small scale enterprises should adopt innovative ways to carry out their activities.

He harped on the need to intensify education on Information Communication Technology (ICT) training particularly among the youth, and said they had the opportunity to transform the region in terms of trade and tourism promotion.

The Queenmother of Ho-Dome, Mama Atrato II, who chaired the programme, commended the MCE, saying his determination to promote the development of the Municipality, through trade and investment, was an indication of his preparedness to transform it to a status that would attract people from all walks of life.

Mama Atrato urged women and young ladies to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available to seize business opportunities that would enable them to market their products through improved packaging to meet national and international standards.

The Zonal Manager of Ghana Exim Bank, Alhaji Zakaria Mahamadu, said his outfit, which was one of the sponsors of the Ho Expo 2022, was committed to supporting local businesses development with the objective of reducing poverty, and asked the youth to take advantage of the Bank as well as the programme to develop themselves.

The Volta Region Accountant of the National Lotteries Authorities (NLA), Madam Sakye, urged Ghanaians to at all-time stake the NLA, because revenue raised were used to build school infrastructure, construct roads, and engage in other development projects.

The Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Madam Akorfa Dokosi, noted that the Ho Municipality and the Volta Region in general had many tourism potentials, which needed to be developed, and urged the private sector to take advantage of the agriculture and tourism potentials.

The Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana and her Deputy were made citizens of Ho, and the High Commissioner was dressed as a Queenmother to signify that she was welcomed to the Municipality as an ordinary citizen.
