Two churches in Adansi, the Methodist Church and the Church of Pentecost, are to establish vocational and technical institutions at Adamso and Ampunyasi, both in the Akrofoum District.
While the Methodist Church is to build the institute at Adamso, the Church of Pentecost has chosen Ampunyasi for its project.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Maurice Jonas Woode, disclosed this when he and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Alex Blankson, commissioned a 12-seater water closet toilet facility for the people of Ampunyasi. The facility is to help solve the sanitation issues in the community.
He said land for the two institutions had already been acquired, and called for the cooperation of all stakeholders for the smooth take off of the two big projects.
Touching on the construction of toilets, the DCE said since the inception of the Assembly in 2018, the Ampunyasi facility was the eleventh it had constructed, while five others were at various stages of completion.
He promised the construction of such decent places of convenience for the rest of the communities to replace the old Kumasi Ventilated-Improved Pit (KVIP) toilets in the system.
Mr. Woode further said that apart from the provision of toilets, the Assembly had constructed new school blocks, health facilities, and boreholes for a cross section of the communities.
He further said eight communities, which did not have electricity, had been hooked onto the national grid, while furniture has been provided for all schools in the district.
The DCE assured the people of Ampunyase that the government would support programmes and policies towards making their lives better, and that they would be given their fair share of the Assembly’s cake.
MP Alex Blankson gave an assurance that surface dressing of the road from Ampunyasi junction to Ampunyasi would be tackled soon, since the contractor had moved to site to begin work.
Nana Kwabena Nti, Regent of Ampunyasi, while thanking the Assembly for providing the people with the toilet facility, called for the construction of two more to meet the demands of the increasing population of the town, and promised on behalf of the people to take good care of the facility.
At the commissioning of the 12-seater water closet toilet facility were nananom of Ampunyase and the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Ebenezer Ntiamoah.
