Tension is unfolding at Danfa, near Aburi, in the Akwapim South District of the Eastern Region, where military personnel have been deployed to protect a parcel of land.

The soldiers, allegedly acting on behalf of Chinese companies Royal Land Trust Limited and Gold Plus Properties Limited, are intimidating and preventing workers of Juttap Limited and Modex Oil Company Limited from accessing the land.

The Ghanaian estate developers have been legally operating on the land, but the sudden presence of military personnel has created an atmosphere of tension and insecurity in the community.

Eye witnesses report that the soldiers are blocking the workers from performing their duties amid suspicions of a potential land grab.

The ‘disputed’ land

Management and workers of Modex Oil Company Limited and Juttap Limited are urgently appealing to the Chief of Defense Staff and the Ghana Armed Forces to intervene and restore order.

A representative of Modex Oil Company Limited and Juttap Limited, Kofi Mantey, in an interview, said they are calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the military’s involvement and the alleged ties to the Chinese companies.

Local residents are worried about the implications of this development on their livelihoods and the community’s overall well-being.

The Ghana Armed Forces has not publicly commented on the situation, fueling speculation and anxiety among residents.
