The Ghana National Hair Dressers and Beauticians Association, a non-political, religious and ideological association, has observed its 50th year Anniversary of promoting grooming and perfection.

The theme for the event was: “Accelerating the Adoption of Digital Solution in the Hair and Beauty Industry; the Role of Ghana.”

Madam Tina Offei Yerenkyi, National President of the Association, urged the members to be tolerant and help make the Association attractive to reduce youth unemployment, as the government alone could not absorb all the teeming unemployed youth in the public sector.

He commended all stakeholders who helped in diverse ways to keep the Association going, and assured them that the association was determined to work hard in unity towards its vision, and promote the interests of its leadership and membership.

Madam Yerenkyi entreated the members to strive hard to remain professionals to enable them improve upon service delivery.

She announced that the association was putting up an ultramodern training centre at Ga South to promote and enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and appealed to the government and corporate organisations to help them complete the project on schedule to enable graduates compete with counterparts globally and  evolve innovative solutions.

Mr. Morgan Ayawine, General Secretary of the Industrial Commercial Workers Union (ICU), who was the Guest Speaker, said the fifty years of the Association was an enviable contribution to socioeconomic growth and development of the country having impacted employable skills to young women and created job opportunities for the youth.

He noted that, the association has helped young women me to become self employed and reliant to augment government efforts at creating and impacting positively on the employment situation and unemployment statistics in the country.

Mr. Ayawine noted that the task of nation building is a collective responsibility of all and cannot be left to the government alone.

He commended the founding members of GHABA for its vision of contributing to the socio-conomic development of the informal sector.
