President Akufo-Addo

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shown the Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen the exit from his government.

The rather swift dismissal announced Monday, November 14, 2022 in a statement from Jubilee House took immediate effect.

Mr Adu Boahen was sent to the ‘slaughter house’ of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team for their latest exposé, “Galamsey Economy.”

Charles Adu Boahen was fired before the alleged corruption documentary was premiered in Accra yesterday.

The Chronicle understands that those involved in the said exposé were made aware before the spublic premiering and that the President decided to focus on his appointees implicated by the investigative journalists.

A statement from Jubilee House read that: “After being made aware of the allegations levelled against the Minister in the exposé, ‘Galamsey Economy’, the President spoke to Mr. Adu Boahen, after which he took the decision to terminate his appointment and also to refer the matter to the Special Prosecutor for further investigations,” the release continued.

The announcement of the termination of Charles Adu Boahen’s appointment brings the number of ministers under the current Akufo-Addo term who have lost their jobs to two.

The first was the dismissal of the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, and now Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen.
