The District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) has reached the Bono Region and the 12 Municipal and District Assemblies in the region have received a total of 99 of the equipment under the initiative.

The Bono regional minister handed over the 99 road construction equipment to the 12 MDAs on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Justina Owusu Banahene noted that the project honours the President’s pledge to ensure fair sharing of the national cake.

She added, “This project complements the 2022 and 2023 ‘Years of Roads’ declaration.”

The equipment includes 12 tipper trucks, 12 graders, 12 black holes, 12 water tankers, 12 rollers, 6 wheel loaders, 3 bulldozers, 3 low beds and 24 concrete mixers.

The minister encouraged stakeholders to ensure the equipment’s long life-span through training, proper storage, monitoring, regular maintenance, cleanliness and record-keeping.

The Bono Regional Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited,Mr. Emmanuel Abasiya, pledged the company’s support to maintain the machines by training personnel and deploying 32 mobile service vans for 24/7 support.

He hinted at a collaboration with the 48 Engineering Regiment to ensure security and disciplined use of the equipment.

Thanking the President for his leadership, Mr. Abasiya announced plans to establish equipment assembly plants in all regions by year-ending, creating job opportunities.

Present at the ceremony were 12 Municipal and District Chief Executives, MPs, Departmental heads and party faithful.
