The Coachella 2023 lineup is here: Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean will headline the festival when it returns to Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, this April.
Rosalía, Gorillaz, Björk, Charli XCX, Burna Boy, Alex G, Jai Paul, and Glorilla are also on the bill for this year.
As previously announced, the festival takes place across two weekends: April 14-16 and 21-23.
Other notable acts on the Coachella lineup include: Boygenius, Christine and the Queens, the Breeders, Noname, Soul Glo, Weyes Blood, Yaeji, Willow, Yung Lean, Yves Tumor, the Comet Is Coming, Snail Mail, Saba, Romy (of the xx), Muna, Metro Boomin, Latto, Idris Elba, Kali Uchis, Ethel Cain, and EarthGang.
In a rare move, festival co-founder Paul Tollett revealed that Frank Ocean would headline Coachella 2023 after the pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 edition, which the singer was scheduled to headline.
When explaining why he broke the news so far in advance, Tollett told the Los Angeles Times, “Right now, it’s the Wild West. I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually, they get to see everyone that we talked about.”
Coachella 2022 marked the first time the festival ever took a break between years, due to the postponement and eventual cancellation of the planned 2020 event.
Afterwards, AEG initiated a string of layoffs, furloughs, reduced hours, and salary cuts. Coachella was then rescheduled to April 2021 before being once again cancelled in January 2021 due to ongoing coronavirus concerns.
The festival finally returned in April 2022, but not without its share of drama. Less than 10 days before the first weekend of Coachella was scheduled to take place, Kanye West was abruptly off the lineup and, in his place, the Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia stepped up.
West was later sued for $7.1 million by the Los Angeles–based production and design firm Phantom Labs, which claimed that he owed them money for work on his cancelled Coachella performance.
Coachella 2022 was headlined by Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, the Weeknd, and the Swedish House Mafia.
