While female representation is on the rise, there is still a lot of room for change in the male-dominated DJ industry.

These ladies have carved out a name for themselves in the male-dominated field and gained popularity and notoriety that clearly and definitively mark them as some of the best in the business.

DJ ChiChi poised to change Ghana's music scene

Her debut event at Rose Sundays, one of the hottest events in Accra, started the momentum. By the time she played her third event ChiChi, had already made a name for herself.

Under the tutelage of DJ Slybeatz, the vibrant lady learnt how to turn the tables using the Serato DJ programme by February 2022.

“I used to hang out almost every weekend in Accra, watching and observing how DJ’s worked and how the crowds responded to the music. I realized that there was a gap, where a lot of females were not headlining the big events in the city.

“During the 2021 Christmas festivities, I watched how Uncle Waffles took over the city with her craft and that is when I decided to learn how to DJ and how to conduct myself like the star that I was going to become,” she says.

She plays HipHop, Aftobeatz, Dancehall, Bashment, and Amapiano but refuses to be boxed.

“I can rock to anything,” she said.

She most recently opened for Nigerian artiste, Wande Coal at his Ghana concert in June 2022 and has played several shows/events including the Ghana Flower show, the BMartini All White Party.
