The Ghana Gas Company Limited has commissioned and handed over a 10-unit girls’ hostel facility to the Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) in the Keta municipality.
The fully furnished hostel will decongest the school and provide boarding facilities to the large number of students.
Ghana Gas constructed the hostel facility to help improve the housing deficit which makes it difficult for students who come from long distances to have access to decent and well-secured accommodation.
Madam Dolphin Dogbegah of Ghana Gas, an old student, stated that the company, under the leadership of Dr Bernard Asante, has built several projects across the country as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility over the years.
She noted that Ghana Gas continues to help improve education, health delivery and other important needs of the people of the country.
She said that the issue of hostel or boarding facility is necessary due to the fact that the population of the students keeps increasing and needs enough boarding facilities to help accommodate the students.
Madam Dogbegah noted that the former headmaster of KETASCO, Mr Agbake helped with the initiative and Ghana Gas came through with the construction of modern boarding facility for the girls.
She went on to say that Ghana Gas continues to reach out to every part of the country with over 300 projects across the country currently ongoing.
She noted that 140 projects have been completed by Ghana Gas.
“Today, our projects by Ghana Gas are scattered in the 16 regions of the country with 140 already completed and 300 currently ongoing from education, health, sanitation, water development and skills training,” Madam Dolphin Dogbegah said.
She commended the headmaster for his diligence towards the building of the hostel and the former headmaster for initiating the project.
She urged the students to take their studies seriously so they can become responsible adults in the future.
The MCE for Keta, Emmanuel Gemegah noted that it is a great move by Ghana Gas to help KETASCO with an additional boarding facility and promised Ghana Gas that the place would be kept well, so as to attract more projects from them.
Also, the headmaster of the school, Mr Dzidzienyo commended Ghana Gas for their help in addressing accommodation issues in the school.
He noted that it has been his prayer that every student, especially girls posted to KETASCO to be in the boarding house, hence the help from Ghana Gas is laudable.
Mr Issac Dzidzienyo noted that the edifice will help the students have a decent accommodation which will make teaching and learning effective and efficient
He appealed to other institutions to emulate the good works of Ghana Gas and also help provide other facilities like furniture to the school.
Students were happy about the new facility and promised to practice the culture of maintenance to help prolong its lifespan.
