Female staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority are encouraging colleague workers to stay in good health to aid in the achievement of revenue collection targets.

President of the GRA Ladies, Vivian Ne-Ormeh Nyoni, says the neglect of one’s health status can impede performance of the group.

“We sensitize our women to be health-conscious. Once you are healthy you can do everything. We are encouraging everybody to take interest in a healthy lifestyle so they can contribute to the development of the country”, she said.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is expected to achieve revenue targets of GH¢80.3 billion for the 2022 revenue collection year.

In 2021, the revenue collector was able to collect a little over GH¢57.32 billion as against a target of GH¢57.02 billion.

The Ghana Revenue Authority Ladies Association is optimistic of achieving the targets, but cautioned members to heed to healthy practices.

Miss Ne-Ormeh Nyoni reveals the promotion of a healthy lifestyle will form a pillar of the group’s objectives.

The GRA Ladies organised a breast cancer sensitization and screening exercise for its members to observe breast cancer awareness month.

Statistics from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital shows about 500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer annually.

Women form ninety percent of the total number.

Ashanti Area Director of GRA, Agnes Akosua Adu-Boateng, wants staff of the authority to serve as agents in the fight against breast cancer.

“We are going to assist those impacted by breast cancer to get them the information they need. We are also going to nurture and build a community to support and as well remain highly productive in our families and revenue generation drive”, she emphasized.
