Residents within the various Anlo communities have been urged to take advantage of their rich natural resources so as to ensure the development of their communities and the nation as a whole.
The Awadada of Anlo, Torgbui Agbesi Awusu II made the call during the mini Hogbe festival held in Anlo Afiadenyigba over the weekend.
Torgbui Agbesi Awusu noted that the Anlo land has so much natural resources left untapped and needs to be exploited for the benefit of all.
He noted that it was necessary for the communities to work hard in harnessing the resources available instead of waiting to be given jobs by the central government.
Anlo Afiadenyigba, he said has a lot of resources that could support activities like commercial mining and fishing as well as kente weaving which could help bring enough development to the town.
“Here in Anlo Afiadenyigba, we have everything we need like fish, salt and kente weaving and a rich culture which we can harness for the development of the town,” Torgbui Awusu said.
He urged them to change their mind sets of waiting on government for everything instead of taking advantage of the natural resources available to them and use it judiciously.
Torgbui called on the Chiefs of Anlo land to be mindful of certain attitudes that could put them in trouble and put the communities in bad light.
He also urged royal families to always make sure that due process is followed in the installation of new chiefs.
The Dufia of the town, Torgbui Kadzahlo, appealed to the government to make sure that the Anlo Afiadenyigba-Havedzi roads are completed on time to boost the economic activities of the town.
Torgbui Kadzahlo urged residents to be law abiding and be united so as to bring development to the town.
Keta MCE , Emmanuel Gemegah, assured the residents of government’s commitment to making sure that promises made to them concerning the roads are fulfilled and on time.
Mr Gemegah noted that government needs the collaboration of the residents to make developmental projects a success.
The festival was characterized by rich cultural displays by various traditional drumming groups from the Anlo communities.
