United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana held the second series of the 2022 edition of the SME capacity building in Kumasi at the Sunset Hotel.

The initiative reaffirms the bank’s purpose to equip SMEs in the country with the financial advisory services and requisite knowledge to expand their business.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Maximizing SME Business growth opportunities in Ghana’ Sylvia Inkoom, Deputy Managing Director at UBA Ghana noted that the bank is working in these annual workshops to offer customers real opportunities and help grow their businesses.

She noted that UBA supports its customers through all phases of their businesses and the capacity building workshop is one of the ways to achieve that.

“When your businesses grow, we grow with you and when you are out of business, invariably, we also. Therefore, we have an interest in your business growth,” says Sylvia.

The Deputy Managing Director further stated that UBA is providing access to market opportunities for the customers through various interventions.

Owusu Achiaw Kwaakye, CEO of Naton Olives Consult, the main speaker for this year re-echoed on his topic “scaling up your business growth through access to the new market” through various topics including identifying and assessing market opportunities.

The Kumasi participants left the Sunset Hotel well-equipped with relevant tips to manage and grow their business.

So far, the workshop in Accra and Kumasi have received positive feedback.

A participant in Kumasi said, “I have learnt a lot today from this workshop and the speakers. I have gained so much information. And I’m also happy that I get to connect with other SMEs who attended this workshop”.

Peter Dery, Head of Retail Bank at UBA encouraged customers and participants to improve their record-keeping culture in order to receive support from the Bank. He noted that would be one of the ways to determine the true value of their businesses.

He pledged that UBA will continue to support customers with bespoke solutions and add to the capacity-building workshops, and SME clinics to properly diagnose their peculiar difficulties and help them to overcome them as they grow their businesses.
