Angeles Foundation has launched a COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign in Okere District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The campaign organized in partnership with the Okere District Assembly on National Fitness Day witnessed thousands of people through a health walk.

The campaign, dubbed “Obiaa B3 W)” with hashtag #ItsUpToUs, seeks to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19 safely; a substantial proportion of Ghana’s population would need to be vaccinated, lowering the overall amount of virus able to spread in our communities.

In a keynote address, the District Chief Executive of Okere District, Kenneth Daniel Addo expressed his gratitude to the people for coming out in their numbers to walk to mark National Fitness Day and also create awareness for COVID-19 Vaccination.

“As individuals, it is essential that we stay fit. Walking for 30 minutes a day or more on most days of the week is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health.

“Let us also remember that the COVID-19 vaccine is free and available in all health facilities nationwide. It is our responsibility to get vaccinated, let take action and get vaccinated to protect ourselves and our community,” Kenneth Daniel said.

The founder of Angeles Foundation, Mrs Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan Bekoe, on her part indicated that the “Obiara b3w) Campaign is a community-based approach to encourage individuals to take responsibility for getting vaccinated.

In partnership with Mastercard Foundation, the campaign seeks to make individuals embrace the vaccines to reduce the probabilities associated with mass transmission of COVID-19 and bust the myths related to vaccinations.

The campaign will encourage individuals to continue observing social distancing guidelines and doing their bit to help stop the spread of the virus, stay positive and take the vaccines.
